Getting to Hamrar

Make your way north in the way that suits your group

Hamrar is beside Kjarnaskógur, just a few minutes from central Akureyri. Here are a few ways to reach the north and continue to the campsite.

Direct to Akureyri in October

Via Reykjavík in summer

Fly to Keflavík, transfer to Reykjavík Domestic Airport for the roughly 40-minute flight to Akureyri, or rent a car and drive north on Route 1, about 400 km.

Reykjavík–Akureyri travel options

Ferry from mainland Europe

Norröna sails from Hirtshals, Denmark, via Tórshavn to Seyðisfjörður. From there, continue west by road to Akureyri; sailing schedules vary by season.
